MARTIN, MI – Martin U.S. 131 Motorsports is currently buried in snow, but track officials promised that better days are ahead at the quarter-mile dragstrip with the release of their 2014 schedule on Tuesday.
Check out the schedule below to find out when the track opens, along with all of its key dates.
Fans will notice popular events are back, like the International Hot Rod Association’s Northern Nitro Jam, which will be held Aug. 8-9. The 10th annual Funny Car Nationals return Sept. 5-6.
There are surprises, though. Martin is bringing back the Super Chevy Show May 30-June 1, marking the first time in about a decade that the track has hosted the program that includes racing, a swap meet, car show and car corral. Martin also will be introducing the Mega Mopar event May 18.
“We like to do what we know works, but we don’t ever want to get stale, either,” Martin spokeswoman Stephanie Peterson said. “We have a lot of regular customers who do like to see something new.
“We will be bringing in the Pro Modified Racing Association for the Super Chevy Show. They are a great group and have fantastic cars.”
Other key dates include the June 27-28 Professional Drag Racers Association’s Thrown Down at 131 Pro Mod Event, which was formerly known as the American Drag Racing League. Martin is hosting the AMRA All Harley Drags Aug. 23-24 and the VW Bug Runs July 20 and Oct. 12.
There will be 13 Lane Bracket races beginning with the season opener on May 3. The IHRA Thunder Team Finals return Sept. 11-14.
