If people have trouble turning the stock wing nut by hand, just grab it with a pliers. I say this thing looks like a 20 dollar nut for the show buggy crowd...or am I missing something?

We have had to adjust clutch cables at the track a couple times. It was a struggle to turn them with the tools we had on hand. I thought this looked like a easier way to do this when not at home with all the tools.

Million dollar question: Is it worth 20 bucks?

Maybe. If it works well, at that moment at the track, yes it would have been worth it.

Personally, I can't imagine anyone having a "show buggy". In my opinion, it's a vehicle to drive in the dirt, and to beat the crap out of.
It's sort of counter productive to make one look really pretty, you probably would not want to drive it because it could get dirty.
That said, I think this nut might be a good thing. You generally cary tools to a drag strip. If it's a show buggy, you probably don't carry them. I would think that this would be a perfect item for a buggy, and a good thing for VW's in general, drag car or not. I have a lot of tools for specific things that I might use one every couple of years, yet every time I use them, I am grateful that I have it. $20 for a nut that could make it easier to adjust my clutch every couple of years seems like a deal to me. It's even better because it is probably well made!
Just sayin... I'm thinking I might have to have one.

Dave: Maybe we should buy two and split the shipping? I am positive we will see each other at least once before the spring.

I'd be in for one. Having done this same adjustment along side the road and at the drag strip I say its definitely worth the $20

its kool, dont see the detent to keep it from not turning like stock, how often does one adjust the clutch? once every 5-10k miles? easy way to adjust it is to push pedal down and then block arm in place,(takes load off), keep cable threads greased and it should turn by hand thats how it was designed to be done. If you are adjusting your cable often, maybe cable is streaching or maybe clutch is to heavy for stock cable, or bowden tube is set up wrong.

I wondered about that too rwk. I think if you look at the photos real hard you can see the oval shaped part that fits into the arm. Does not jump out at first glance.
