Interesting article. Might explain what happened to the fuel pump in my 72. Shows that there is more than just the problem of the gas going bad after some time. My street Bugs get only ethanol free, but I'm thinking about blending to save $ next year. Ethanol free is pretty expensive, but worth it IMHO. I didn't have much trouble at 5%, that why I'm considering blending. My '72 will never see any ethanol again if I can help it
Pure-gas.org shows a station in Marshall at 1243 S Kalamazoo Ave. You could fill up there and top off from a can.

I don't think its the ethanol that's the problem but the water it collects. I did my own study years back by soaking various rubber o-rings in E85 and E15. Then did a pull test on them and found the E15 to be less elastic and broke before the E85. I did this before expairmenting with the E85 in my 2275 engine. The main problem we have around here is that all the station mix in the truck so it's hard telling what we get out of the pump. Some stations down south actually mix at the pump and see better results. Oh ya, check your local shell station, there premium may still be ethanol free.
