I broke down and purchased two new CB Performance forged drop spindles. They should be here next week, and hopefully they will solve the car turning better to the passenger's side, than it turns to the driver's side.
If it is not that, I'm stumped.

Dave is your gear box clocked correctly? Have you lifted the front end off the ground with the tires straight and count how many turns of the steering wheel it takes to come to a stop then restraighten the tires and see if it matches turns when done in the other direction?

Yup. Did that, and everything checked out fine, the steering gearbox is great.
The only thing I could see that might cause this is a very strange angle on the driver's side tie rod.
That's the nice thing about Hunter front end machines...you can unload the front end quickly. We were turning the front wheels both ways with one finger.
If this does not fix the problem...well, drop spindles are forged, and a lot stronger...

Hi Dave, Have you checked the car's corner weights? If opposite corners had somehow gotten reduced spring rate or preload the car could sit flat, but handle like you are describing.
BTW, now look what you did! I read your post and decide to get off some bucks and ordered forged drop spindles for the '70. Mine are coming from AirCooled.Net, so we will have to compare when we get them.
