Wow that thing is wild. It still amazes me on how natural a v8 looks under the hood of a Beetle

looks good, an old friend of mine in Battle Creek has a v-8 bug. Its on a tube chassis, and its not turbo. But he does have a turbo buggy though Chris

Not my thing but I can respect the amount of work in it.

I do have to compliment the workmanship but still must question why? Last time I checked it took waaaaay less work to just build a vw motor that runs 9's. I'd venture to say both are equally unreliable and require constant attention, LS-1's are midly reliable but every backyard bred turbo I've seen for them are total garbage. The discussion about megasquirt scares me as they take a lot of work to tune correctly even on N/A applications. More power to him though.
To think, a 996 swap would take way less work and be just as fast in addition to almost belonging in a bug.

I like megasquirt for old MK2 GTI's and Jetta's they can really help ya out on 16v Turbo applications but I am a fan of 034 EFI we got a kit from them for my Buddies 2000 Jetta 1.8T Big Turbo project and its a very nice professional kit with easy and more advanced tuning but its all going away now as the project cannot continue to do lifes problems.

Megasquirt is exactly what my friend told me to get to replace the CB brain on my project. He stated that it would be less trouble then the CB unit. Plus it take more then just putting a turbo engine in a bug to make it run in the 9s.
