Hi there!
I recently got my Dad a 74 Super Beetle for Fathers day! He recently also started working on a friends 74 Super Beetle Convertible as well. The problem is that he is having problem with the 74 super beetle convertible miss firing or timing. Is there anybody willing to come by and take a look or willing to chat over the phone about possible solutions? Time and Gas will definitely be compinsated if anybody is willing to stop by and take a look. I am located in Farmington Hills, Michigan 48334. I can send my phone number to who ever is interested.
Thanks!!!

Start at the public library checking out the factory manuals and the Keeping Your VW Alive guide (Some of us are Idiots occasionally) . My guess is the distributor is out of position or the wires are crossed Is the rotor and notch in distributor body aligned(cylinder 1 fires) when the crank pulley notch is straight with the case parting line between halves. distributor firing order 1-4-3-2 3.... ....1 4..DX...2 Is a basic plug wire diagram for the (Distributor with the X crossing 1 and 2 wires since the rotor moves clockwise . I could email more pictures and diagrams if there was an email listing. Beyond that is may be a bad coil, other distributor/ignition ,carbureation/fuel issues. Hopefully not some more serious reason to take the engine apart. If the distributor is wrong
