2 stage Yardman 7 horse, custom in that it has a open view crank and rod (through the side of the case) which is wide open. It drove the valves into the head which broke free and split the head, in two. I've never seen one blow this hard, didn't even have the auger/or propel engaged. No more then an idle? Guess it was just it's time for it to rest. Heck it's just 40 yrs old or so. Going to swap out the engine tomorrow. It has alway been so reliable. At least it waited until the drive was clear and backing into the garage.
