As I mentioned in earlier thread a month or so ago. I picked up a pretty rough 71 convertible. I decided to use it for a Roadster Volksrod project for the wife. I now have a great doner sedan that has a great rolling chassis, and alot of sheet metal I will be needing to repair the convertible. I plan on grafting the entire front section of the body because there is some rust through in the trunk area and the trunk lid mount area. Also the rear apron area. Basically, I want to keep the windsheild posts, the top half of the convertible because those are all different than the sedan. I also plan to take the sedan roof metal, crop off the rear section of it down to the top edge of the rear window opening, and using that as a rear deck area covering the package shelf area of the convertible, making more of a roadster bodied car. Using the convertible doors due to those being different, with no posts or window frames. Shaving all the side window glass. This is going to be a true roadster with no side glass. The doors will be capped, and filled as a roadster should be. I will be making a light weight lift off top out of the original convertible frame. Cutting it down a well, and covering it with canvas. More of a Bemini style lift off top. This is a preliminary picture crop with the intention. Of course it will be lowered a bit, with some old school smoothies or something like that. But, the body is what I am going for with chopping these two pictures together between a sedan, and a convertible. This is the body lines I am going for.
