My name is Ed and I am a Volksahaulic.





1985 Wolfsburg Weekender. It's water cooled but I couldn't resist. I've been dreaming of camping and cruizing the open road for years. I've got all winter to get ready for spring camping. It has a good tent. The rear seats/bed need reupholstry. Front seats are nice. Engine has new heads but has not been road tested. Auto trans. Very little rust

We camped next to one in Yellowstone, three years ago. They had a BMW Motorcycle on a rack in the rear and two mountain bikes on a rack in the front. Had all the bases covered.

Volkswagen makes a watercooled? hehehh.. I had to. Sorry.. .. I would like to someday build a Westy out of a split window... Someday it'll make the "ta-do" list..

I saw one like that recently for sale online. It was a '67 with a Sportsman pop-top and '78 westy interior. Wanted like $29 grand for it.

i also have a 85 parts van it has a very nice slider that would go on your van

Hopefully I can just pop the dent out of my slider. It works fine, no rust.

I may have to get your advice on engine tuning and auto transmissions.

I hope to get it reliable enough to drive to the UP this summer. Little by little I am fixing things. Changed the hatch struts so it doesn’t fall on my head ...... again (ouch). The auto-transmission vent was plugged causing it to puke fluid out the transmission dipstick. I changed the O2 sensor and temp sensor. It runs a lot better but not much power from idle. Could be timing or throttle position switch, but I took the insurance off, so no more test drives this winter. I need to pick a fabric and go to work on the rear seats.

Looks good in the garage Glad it found a great home. I know its watercooled but its still a great vw. Vw for the most part does not make junk, its just more complicated is all. I like to simplify. Still love the late campers!

Running much better now. It was timing. Had a good drive out to the Lake today.
