Walmart has Sony combo's on sale. $90 for CD player with remote, 2 6x9's and 2 6.5's. Has input for Ipod and plays MP3 CDs.
I don't even need the speakers and it's still a good deal.
It was not by the car stereo stuff at my WalMart. It was in the center of a main aisle with a big $90 sign.

Sounds like a good deal except I'm not crazy about the idea of possibly altering the dash on the bugs. Still might have to get one for the winter beater.

I put mine in the glove compartment. Left the old factory radio in the dash but I plan to install the factory radio delete plate in the dash now.

Wow, good deal. I paid about the same for used stuff. Might just have to go get this new setup and resell my used. Ed: I will trade you my blockoff plate for your stock radio. What radio have you got?

It's actually an aftermarket radio from the 60's. It looks decent but not show quality. It has the VW chrome Bezel. I'll try to dig it up and take a picture later.
I don't need the whole block-off plate, just the chrome strip.

I found the system in the Battle Creek store. It was by the auto write up counter. I bought it. Going to get it wired up and see how it sounds before I make a final decision. I like the idea of all new stuff but I wonder how good the speakers will really be.
UPDATE: I changed my mind and took it back. Decided to go with what I had already purchased.
