Kind of proud of the daughter. She's 15, and this was her very first time driving anything believe it or not. She is a new generation of Air cooled VeDubbers. Scarab was pretty dirty that day, and needs a bath. Even has some cat paws on the door from our curious cat. I didn't realize it was so dirty until I watched the video. But anyway, the daughter did amazingly on her first drive. She only dumped the clutch one time the whole hour or so she drove around the neighborhood. She tends to bog the motor because she is still sketchy about giving it too much throttle to get the RPM up, but I was proud of how well she did, when there are so many adults that don't even know how to drive a standard.

Another thing I am proud of on that day. We had a real world breakdown. She drove it into the school parking lot, and it died. I opened the lid, looked around, and after a few seconds noticed something. I didn't fix it, or even give her a hint on what I saw. I went back to her, and told her to figure it out, she broke it. She went to the back, opened the lid, poked around for a few seconds, came back and jumped in the driver seat and cranked Scarab right up. She knew exactly what and where to look for an issue like that, and after about 2 minutes, noticed the 12v distributor wire popped off the coil and was laying back behind everything. It landed in the back and out of sight, and would have been easy to miss unless you knew what you were looking for, and poked around to find it. The way it died, she knew it had to have lost ignition, and knew exactly where to start looking for an issue. Again, not many adults, let alone women or girls would even know what to do, or where to even start looking for a road side issue. She's quite the apprentice gear head.
