Hello, The wife and I are long time air cooled fans. We have been on a 15 year hiatus however while we concentrated on raising our late in life daughter. She is now 15, and is also a vintage VW enthusiest. We just now started back into it, and really don't know anyone in the hobby anymore being so long. We now live in Michigan, and just bought a family bug, that will end up being my daughter's first car. It is a 1969 Beetle, 4 wheel disc brakes, and some other nice upgrades. We are really going to enjoy it again, along with our daughter. I hope to meet some other airheads soon. Attachments:

Welcome!
Nice looking bug...wish something like this was my first car...
The wheels and 4-wheel disk brakes are a really nice touch too.
Hope to see you at some of the events! You would really enjoy them!

Thanks Volks.. We are looking forward to getting back into the community.
The bug is a really nice bug I found in North Carolina. Very solid with no rust, which is a rare item to find here in Michigan. The young man I got it from was doing a nice job with it. The only thing it really needs is heat tubes to get the heat going again. They were shot and he removed them, because he never drove it in the winter months anyway. It was his pride, and you can really tell it was by the care he took of it. It's got a 70's era 1600dp, HID headlight upgrade, and the four wheel discs which is what I really liked for the daughter to drive. Interior has been done, but I need to install the new headliner that came with it. The daughter is stoked over it too. I have 3 grown sons whom none of them every took an interests. I restored several over the years while they ran around with their buddies, and never gave it a thought including a 57 Kombi, a couple bugs, a baja bug, as well as a VW based MGTD replica. Of course when I finished those over the years, they wanted to DRIVE them, hahah.. I did get my oldest son a Manx dune buggy project, but he never did anything with it, until he sold the project to buy a Ford Fistiva believe it or not.. lol. Anyway.. My daughter is a little gear head like her old man, and I have been enjoying it. She welds, turns a wrench, and all the things my sons never took an interest in. She actually plans to go to college after HS to get into automotive technology. The son I ever wanted, LOL..
Thanks looking forward in joining back in..

Welcome! It sounds like you"ve had some interesting VW projects. Good luck with the current project. Feel free to start a thread in the Projects area.
