After a couple of weeks of severe pain due to a herniated disk, they decided today to operate on Dorothy.s back.
Looks simple enough...takes about an hour, and leaves an inch long scar. It should relieve her of pain by the next day, and that I won't have to come running every time she needs anything.
I commented that folks in front of her for surgery might look both ways when they cross the street...
Dorothy might be looking to move the operation up.
The doctor and nurses thought I was kidding. I was not!
:-)
The surgery is scheduled for next Thursday.
I'll keep everybody posted how things are going.

Im sure all will go well. But remember you need to slow down a ton for like 6 mos or its all for naught.

Kenn:
The surgery is scheduled for Thursday afternoon, which I think may be an eternity for Dorothy. She has been laid low for a month now...the surgery can't happen quick enough for her.
I have stayed home for the duration since she can't drive because of the pain meds.
She is REALLY looking to not have to take anything. The drugs make her tired and just a little loopy...
I'll keep you posted!

Give her my best, make sure she takes it easy for a bit after the surgery, make sure she doesn't push herself to hard to fast.

Dave, Dorothy's in my prayers...and, what poomwah said, make sure she invests in some rest afterward.

Dorothy had her back surgery yesterday, and it was a really long day!
We went in to pre-op at 12:30, the surgery was scheduled for 2:00.
They wheeled her away for the surgery at 6:30...the previous procedure went really, really long.
Dorothy's was a piece of cake, or at least that was what the surgeon told me, and was completely successful. I left the hospital around 11:30 last night, and I get to pick her up and bring her home at 10:00 or so this morning.
Thank everybody for the kind words and support. It means a lot!
Dave
P.S. The doctor said that she is not supposed to do housework, or do things like dusting and running the vacuum cleaner. Dorothy said "Hooray"!
;D

She'll be chasing you around before you know. Glad it was a piece of cake! Get out the vacuum and get busy, you can borrow Mikes pink too-too. Dust with one hand and vacuum with the other and eat bon-bons in between.

I'm NOT kidding. Be careful when she starts to do anything.
