In response to the MANX post in the classified section I thought I would start a general thread on this car.
Was Manx a kit you purchased or was it sold as an aftermarket manufactured turnkey car? It seems that true Manx's get a pretty sum on the open market. There was a reproduction version of the Manx that sold more of the original I think. But its the orginal thats actually worth something, so I'm assuming it's something of a rare find.
How would I know a true Manx from a reproduction? If its just a fiberglass shell on a VW chassis whats the big deal? Can't even drive it in the rain.
I had a guy desperately try to unload one on me about 15 years ago. Don't remember how much he wanted for it but it was less than $500. I told him know way. If I had $100 dollars for every good deal I passed up... sigh.

I bought a real Meyers Manx in sad shape for $200. I sold it in the same shape for $500. The body was the only thing "good" on it. And it was dull and cracked.
It's a status thing. Like saying you have real Empi BRMs, not the Flat 4 repos.
If you want to build a 'glass buggy, go get one from Berrien Buggies. They even have a tube chassis available so you don't have to cut up a bug. A couple of buddies in Louisiana had Berrien Buggies and loved them.

And you would be supporting local business,
The Manx's were built by Bruce Meyers and turn key cars or sold as kits, Some were even offered for sale on the VW lot brand new.
