if u r trying to put either wheel on yor car and need longer lugs go to junk yark and get the full set off a 2000 passat they are 14mm and 1/2 inch longer or so and will give u enough thread to go in to yor drums with out wheel falling off car

Why bother?
Since it is a VW, there are already threaded lugs with the VW thread and they are about free at around $2.00 each.
I have to replace the original Puma lug bolts because I can't find any with the 19mm ball on them instead of the much more common 17mm ball. I have, however, found the correct 19mm ball lug nuts. The EMPI studs simply screw in with a metric allen wrench and a little Loctite blue, and you are done.
The lug bolts can be used then.
You can get these in different lengths, and you can even get hardened set screws from companies like Fastenal to do the same thing for probably the same money.
Good VW shops already have these.
If you need longer lug bolts, and you are using conical seats, go see Discount Tire. They can special order an almost infinite number of lug bolts with the correct size and thread in 5mm increments for what you need.
Looking for used stuff for your wheels is silly for the time involved.

Here is a pic of a later model water cooled bolt, a 914 steel wheel bolt, and a stock Beetle 4 lug bolt. I agree that using the stock bolts on aftermarket wheels is not a good idea as they are just too short to get good thread engagement. The watercooled bolt is probably better, but the seat is smaller in diameter. The original 914 alloy wheels used an even longer bolt The 914 bolt is a very good bolt to use with the popular 8 spoke wheels and I am absolutely hoarding every one that I can get my hands on. It is worth it to me. Another bolt that works well is the bolt from a 924. It has the increased length and proper sized seat, but a 17mm hex size.

The Porsche uses a 19mm ball seat. Modern VW's use the 17mm ball seat, and they are not the same, and you should not use them. I looked for a long time for the correct lug bolts, but they were quite expensive, and hardly ever available in chrome. I finally gave up and purchased a set of nuts here: www.t3technique.com/lug-nuts-studs-and-bolts/porsche-style-steel-nut-(chrome).htmlThey have them in black too. Dave
