As ANY good VW owner will tell ya... The two most important items fer a VW to have...FIRST and foremost is a Fire Extinguisher !
Them small fires can rapidly turn into DISASTER if ya ain't got one ! They are CHEAP and easy to store in the car ! If you ain't got one... GO GIT ONE ... TODAY !! Right NOW even !
Oh, the other item ?? AAA card !
Or in the case of the HW guys.. the HHH card ! Right Sal ?

Actually I have two in the car at all times. One on the tunnel the other on the roll bar. Also a pair of ov-gloves so I don't burn my pattys.

Amen to the fire extinguisher! I was leaving work driving my '65 Convertible; which is lowered. Shortly after dragging my dual mufflers across a speed bump, the car stalled. When I got out of the car to check things out, I saw the smoke! I opened the deck lid to see a small fire. Having no fire extinguisher, all I could do was use my coat as a fan to blow the fire out. I used water from a water bottle to put out the last little flame. The fire started at the fuel pump. I have one of the old rebuildable fuel pumps (not the newer one piece kind). When I hit the speed bump, the hose nipple on the outlet of the fuel pump came loose from the fuel pump and pumped fuel into the engine compartment. I assume the sparks from the muffler hitting the speed bump ignited the fuel. Fortunately, the only damage was a small paint bubble on the apron and burned wires to the electronic ignition module.

My Puma is from Brazil. Brazilian law says you have to have a fire extinguisher in the car at all times, and it has to be accessible. My car has a built-in place in the center console for one, and there is one in there.
Probably a good thing, since fiberglass burns.

the hose nipple on the outlet of the fuel pump came loose from the fuel pump and pumped fuel into the engine compartment. I have had that happen on 3 different cars. Luckily, no fire.

The DC ALWAYS has at least 1, and a 2nd one if I'm going more than 30 miles. I still need to put one in the camper.

the hose nipple on the outlet of the fuel pump came loose from the fuel pump and pumped fuel into the engine compartment. I have had that happen on 3 different cars. Luckily, no fire. I have since used some wire around the hose nipple and two of the screws on the top of the fuel pump to prevent the hose nipple from backing out again.
