anyone have any pics of a baja bug with a 2.3 water cooled? How about 2.3 buckets of water over a real air cooled (Yellow) Baja??

Saw this awhile ago and bookmarked it. Looks similar to me, same thing though, no idea. Rick's a great guy, hopefully one summer when I come back east I'll have time to visit him and his 2 of everything. The adapter by itself is worth it, not to mention everything else

The pinto engine was base to mustangs/foxbodies(SVO-turbo), merkur-turbo, mazda/ranger, explorer/bronco II. Some rangers had a 8 spark plug head.

good point on the timing belt. but 2.3 timing belts are ridiculously easy to change. the extra torque would be ridiculously welcome though. as would the improved gas mileage

Add the ridiculouis Weight of the cast iron water pumper and what are u gaining? 2.3 are only about 100hp unless you modify'em,but sounds like you've gone to the 'Darkside" already ;D ;D

I stray toward the darkside, then I look at my bug. I love the way my bug looks. Not trying to sound conceited , but it just looks cool as hell. I'm really worried that the water pumper would REALLY take away from that look. Then I get to thinking about how much I love the way my bug handles, especially for a baja. Its very predictable. I'm sure the swap would take that away from me as well. And, not that I'm a purist by ANY means, but I like that its VW powered. I just don't like how slow it is, and how bad the gas mileage is for as little power as it has, hehe.

It needs a bus trans to get RPMs back into sweet spot, with the bigger tires.
