Did a little research today while at the track open house. Racing stockish beetles we would be in the street class. Rules as follows: "Street" Delay boxes, air throttles, trans brakes and two steps are prohibited. Line locks permitted in the burn out process only. Door cars only. DOT approved mufflers (no inserts) and exhaust mandatory. DOT tires or DOT cheater slicks mandatory. Cars must run 12.00 or slower in the ¼ mile. All IHRA safety rules apply. It is $25 to race. Two dial-in passes. So, we get a guarantee of three passes. If you go out first round you can buy back in for $10. Next class up is Modified Street. $50 per race! (I like the Street price much better.  ) |

Guess I can't use my MSD two step rev limiter for launching.... I was really liking using that! (can still use it at the bug run though I believe.) I need to get that tach right in front of my face! Wonder if a hand held staging brake is allowed or not? It is not a line lock (I think) so I hope it is legal. DOT muffler? So, our stingers are out? What do we run now?  |

It sounds like we need to decide if we want to do our own thing at the Test and Tunes and Bug Runs or progress towards IHRA Bracket Racing. While they aren't mutually exclusive they are a little different.

Maybe we should talk to the track a little more.
Maybe, for the aircooled VW's, they will allow us to run what we can run at the bug run for exhaust?
If we did our own thing at test and tune we at least get more passes in.
2012 our own thing?
2013 look at IHRA?

Sounds like a good plan for 2012. Hopefully we will see enough cars on the track in 2012 that they will be receptive to our ideas for 2013
