This is "Buzz", our '73 Thing, new to us as of August 2011. It's named after Buzz Sherwood, from the Red Green show, the character most likely to drive a Thing: "Buzz Sherwood is the local bush pilot and resident hippie. Buzz is a happy-go-lucky guy who has a tendency to greet people physically - with a punch in the arm or a head butt. Buzz still thinks he's the youth of this country and it's still the '60s, with sex, drugs and rock 'n roll."-- ninewords.com/Fun/The%20Red%20Green%20Show/Red%20Green%20Characters.html It's been a Michigan car vehicle Thing its whole life, which makes it even more amazing that the body and pans are super solid, just a few spots of surface rust. It needs a bit of mechanical work, but it's not a full-on "project". (Well, no more so than your typical ACVW. ) It spent most of its life as a "toad" behind a motor home, but it's been sitting in a dry barn for the last several years. And yes, the fuel filter is getting yanked outta there ASAP; some new fuel line and a bunch of other parts just arrived.

Nice purse, yours? Looks pretty solid from the top side. Rare find for Michigan.

Thanks, everyone, and LOL at the purse jokes. ;D I forgot that was in the picture...it's a custom accessory that came with the Thing, with some receipts and the owner's manual inside. Doesn't go with a thing I wear...thank goodness.
Now I just have to decide if I'm going to sell the Bug-in-progress...my "hobby bank account" may decide that for me, if I don't start working some on-call hours.

OR!! sell me Buzz, he'd look very good next to Ruffuss! Sorry ... the family was OK with the first VW, but they're really excited about Buzz. I'll take the good hobby vibes while I've got 'em.
