I just found this club and am looking forward to going to some events. Ive always had bugs since my first one when I was 13 (a 57 oval no less) that I bought for 50.00 with a siezed engine. Since then Ive had a 68 squareback, 71 van, 71 super, 71 standard bug that I chopped the top off of and made a roadster out of, 64 sunroof bug, 76 scirraco, 64 manx style buggy, and my current VW a 66 sunroof cal looker. Needles to say Im into VW . Anyway as time went on I accumulated mechanical knowledge and lots of fun vw stories (some were not fun at the time mind you!!) Most of my pictures and stories are on my, myspace page (that sounds goofy)

Im a family guy been married for 16 years or so and have 3 girls. I am into flying/building/crashing RC airplanes as well. Basically Im a busy car nerd that also likes planes

Dan, Welcome to our club full of air-heads with the same love of the v-dub as you have. I myself drive Ruffuss a yellow 73 Type 181 Thing. Did you have your car in the show in Reese this summer? We drove by but did not have time to walk through. I remember seeing a beetle from a distance there.

Nope, Alley has been under the knife petty much till now. I did do some shows with the dune buggy this summer but that's now in Ga. Ally is the new bug in town so to speak. Next spring through fall this little bug is going to have a lot of miles thrown on her! As it is I've put over 200 miles or so on her working out my mistakes as I go. And there have been some dusies!!! Have had to tow home once allready, and got close a few other times! I have most of them worked out now, and have taken 3, 30 mile trips without incedent.

P.S. Most of the time I'm typing this out on my Ipod touch so at times I'll fudge a word as the little thing tries to fix my horrific spelling as I go and sometimes switches my words without me noticing which can make my corospondence more entertaining

Welcome Dan! You already helped me with the seat belt tip, so your short time on this forum has been very productive!

Most of the folks (or is that volks?) on this forum are on the west side of the state. I'm from the eastern side (Metro Detroit), you are one of the more northern. Maybe we call all find a central place to meet in 2009?

I don't mind the distance so much as it's a driving club and it's fun road trippin. The first week in September there is a huge show in Frankenmuth. Anyway glad I could help with the belts.
