I'm going through the DNR map lists and I never realized how limited rails are for trail riding except if road legal. My rail is 68" Wide, at the out side of the rear tires, DNR's rule is 50" width, I'm sure it sounds dumb but is there possibly a way to knock 9" off each side so the rail would only be 50" wide? I just don't want to have to drive 45 miles north or west to take the rail for a spin.

Road legal wont be much work but for sure wouldn't be road legal until next year. The killer will be insurance. My buddy who is around 43 with a clean driving record had a quote for buggy insurance (through the same company his other vehicle/house/health insurance are all through want over 600$ for 6 months for the buggy when they charge him less than 300 for 6 months on his pick up. So for a 22 yr old with a little sloppy driving record I don't even want to think about it lol. I'm sure for a weekend here or there it wont be bad but if I can get the buggy street legal and fully enclosed by next summer I will gladly swap the insurance off my pickup and just drive the rail next summer. But I'd love to get some riding in this year.

Rails are not limited, instead of seeking trails look for "routes" they are plenty wide enough for rail, actually goin up to ride little manistee next weekend and street legal is not manditory for these just "orv" sticker
