Hi all, I was just wondering if any of you out there have experience with installing drop spindles on your bugs. ( I have a '73 bug myself) If any of you have I'd like to know the level of difficulty, what tools I might need to do this, and how to do it. I am relatively new to veedubs and still kind of learning, so is this something I could do by myself? I'd appreciate any thoughts on the matter! Thanks!

They aren't that hard to change,You just need a few wenches a Pickle fork for the tierod end and a VW Jack to pry out the upper ball joint, just be carefull the jack likes to slip Don't forget to have an alienment done afterward if it drives weird ;D

Its an easy install if you have the right tools. Just be careful pickle forks like to rip ball joint boots.
Also some dropped spindles will make your front wheels stick out farther. So be aware or look for "0" offset spindles.

Alright thanks guys. I don't have a pickle fork so I might have to pick up one of those too. Anybody know of anyone in the Holland, MI area who could do it for me or teach me how to do it?

I don't have a pickle fork so I might have to pick up one of those too. Before you buy a pickle fork, try borrowing one from Autozone. You may have to leave a deposit. I've done this in the past with other tools. Of course, if you have the extra cash, a pickle fork is not a bad tool to have around!
