Thanks for your players. At this moment most of my family are safe. Except one nephew who is a nuclear engineer is working at a nuclear plant near by the Fukushima plant. His area was damaged by earthquake. He doe not have electricity, water, nor food. He has only $80 in his pocket. Transportation is not so good either. Still they have frequent and large scale after shock earthquakes. We are communicating with my brothers by e mail.

Thanks for all of your prayers and support. You truly are goodvolks! The phone lines are still not letting us call through to our family in Japan. We had initial email contact that told us how everyone had fared, with the promise that they would get back to us if the situation changed. So far, we haven't heard more, which we take to be good news. We saw on Japanese TV today that the main Tohoku highway has been opened to traffic again, instead of being closed to all but emergency traffic. Hopefully the relief goods that have made it to Tokyo will start flowing more quickly to the areas that need them so desperately. All those old folks with only one or two blankets, sleeping on cold floors in freezing weather is just so distressing to watch, not to mention all that news about the nuclear situation. I've donated through the Salvation Army and the Catholic Relief Services, I know they both have networks and people already on the ground there, and most of the money I give goes right to the people in need. The Salvation Army has been in Japan over 100 years. Traffic and goods seem to be moving at a snail's pace this first week, I guess that's a normal problem after a big crisis. It's not enough to survive the initial crisis, you have to hold on for a long, miserable time! Anyway, as soon as we hear back, we will let you know. And thanks again! Michele and Aki
