Hey all, yet another student from lawrence tech. This is my 72 super I picked up in august, spent the past few months getting it on the road until earlier this week I had transmission failure. I guess its parked for the winter so I can rebuild the trans and hopefully put a hot motor in it. picasaweb.google.com/jbrandt01/Bug#

I think the 1st gear synchro's are shot. It pops out of 1st with the slightest amount of load on it. Now even at idle with the clutch in if you try to go from neutral to 1st, it will grind and hiss at you. You have to really cram it to get it in and then hold the shifter to prevent it from popping out again. (the shift bushing and coupler are brand new, I also have a dragfast shifter)
I'm still up in the air about the situation, I don't know if I want to test my luck with a used trans or just pony up and have it rebuilt. Dons sport vehicles in detroit is right down the road from me, I don't know if they do trans work (i'd assume so since they do a 113mm bore on T1 engines).
