Ya looooong trip from Frankenmuth ! Made it ok. Small annoying rattle in front end near the end of the trip, hoping it's a shock we will see as soon as it cools down a bit. It's a scorcher here. Had some din din I'm going to miss the cruise tonight (on a fri? Really?) as I'm bushed! Night night.

Dang I thought you were meeting saturday. I would have stopped by the truckstop just to say hi. Have a good time.

Made it home.
Near the end of the trip we saw a suv with "You made it!" written on the back window. Yes, yes we did.
Only one minor threat of a problem. Hit a bump and the engine just quit. Long story short, it ended up being fine the whole rest of the way. Thanks everyone for coming to my rescue. Nice to make these trips with such a great group!

I got home about 9:00pm. Michele also got to our friend's home in Chicago safely.
It was a very nice trip and car show. It was too hot, over 90 degrees on Suterday. The best thing was a 700 miles round trip without any troubles. My70 Ghia performed very well surprisingly.The average cruising speed on highway was around 65MPH.
This morning, we had a severe storm warning at Effingham, but after 10:00am weather was getting better. So we did a last minutes shopping at the site.
We picked up a couple with 73 beetle convertible by the highway. They are a nice couple.

Mike, thanks for your lead. I'm looking forward going to the fun fest next year. Michele and I are thinking to take our bus next year.

It was great to see everyone in Effingham! Driving in late at night and finding some folks still outdoors, sitting under the lights and chatting, was a welcome sight indeed. Saturday was a scorcher, but the good companionship made it all worthwhile. Today's storm added to the adventure. Glad to hear everyone made it home okay. Leaving you all as you turned off 57, I was bummed for a while that I had to drive into the big city, and you got to drive on home to Michigan. Thanks again for the fun weekend.

Made it home at 10:30 pm. Long Long Long drive. Thanks to Bren for loaning me the axle nut tool (looking forward to recieving mine!) And over all pretty smooth trip overall. Carbs acting goofy a bit so Im rebuilding when the parts come. Also found out that the rear tail lights quite but the directionals are working. Silly thing is Im pretty sure I know what happened. It was great meeting up with everyone and I had a great time. The weather was a scorcher and then a deluge of nasty storms but it all worked out.

Very good trip, My new motor performed very well and we picked up a new member along the way.

Great trip everybody. Had a great time but I'm not made for that weather. I left at 11:01 (our time) and got home at 6:30, 7.5 hours with 1 very quick fuel stop (489miles), made it home intime to see my wife for a couple minutes before she left for her baseball game should have ridden with the group.
