I have searched in vain a link that would allow me to introduce myself since I managed to log on this site. I'm from Wyoming, retired from the Grand Rapids fire department and have owned a large number of water cooled VW from Vandagons to Supers. Just recently became the owner of a 78 Baywindo and am attempting to install a 82 Vanagon air cooled engine in it. Should have listened to my wife and not do it. At any rate, I'm looking for some help. If this is the wrong page for the intro, please inform me. Peter

Peter, Welcome to the club. I also retired two years ago. I have a 1977 baywindow. I finished restoring it a year ago. I and my wife are enjoying this bus. Personally I agree with your wife.

I have the bay running just fine. Like to find a painter/body worker in the area that would paint the bus for me. Its an Arizona bus and pretty much rust free. Does have a sliding roof and needs about 2 hours of metal work around the left head light. So if anyone knows of a good body paint person please contact me. Don't care if that person uses all winter to do the job.

Found a body paint man he is good at it but stopped working on cars for a number of years, just burned out I guess. Now I need a source for inside door and side panels. Also need a write up on how to take out the sliding roof without braking the chain that's in there. I have the big manual, but it just does not give much information. Has anyone done one that would be willing to show me.
