Ok, if I want to learn body work where can I take a class that teaches that kind of stuff? You have to be a high-school kid to use the tech center. Where else can you go for that in the west-michigan area?
Would love to learn basic automotive welding, metal fabrication and paint. Just for fun and to use on old cars.

Here in Lansing I am told that Lansing Community College has a great auto body class.

Looks like Grand Rapids CC has courses on welding. Nothing on automotive body repair.

KVCC in Oshtemo has a very extensive program. In welding, auto body and fabrication. I learned at home the hard way.

I understand Washtenaw Community College (Ann Arbor) has an excellent program as well.

Well I was all signed up for the local tech school welding course to begin this Monday. $400 for 16 weeks, 4 hours each week. Just got canceled due to low enrollment.  Community College offers a similar class for $1700. I don't think so, not for that price. Yikes. I can buy a nice mig welder, helmet, gloves and clamps and still pay for a couple of trips to the hospital for that price. That pretty much exhausts offers in my area. Oh well. I'm not happy, was really looking forward to something other than my boring corporate job for a change of pace. |
