Strangely, one of the first Karmann Ghias I ever saw was not the typical 143 we're all familiar with, but a type III coupe purchased by my next door neighbor in 1964 - he was an engineer on the Grand Trunk and would often take trains to Sarnia, ON. It was there that he purchased his new 343 coupe. I've always had a desire to get me a type III Ghia - preferably the very rare 345 (LHD, w/electric sunroof), but then I just stumbled upon this article of a model even rarer! www.type34.com/article.php?story=20030909232913519This prototype would eventually become the Karmann Ghia TC. But if you read the article you will also find out that they were working on a type 14 fastback in 1968 - the model 145. You can NEVER have too many Ghias - as long as they're all a little different.
