Please come join us at US131 dragstrip for a cruise in.
Some of us have been participating fairly regularly in the US131 test and tune sessions. This Wednesday is the last Wednesday test and tune of the season. We thought it would be fun to have everyone come join us. You don't have to 'race' to join us. It is $5 to spectate and $15 to 'race'. The race is not formal, really just an opportunity to see what your car can do. So, come on out and join us.
Gates open at 5pm, racing from 6pm to 10pm.
See you there!

Unfortunately, I may not be going now. Problems with the carbs on the rail. Might be better off spending time on that and making sure I am ready for the dune trip.

Well, maybe that was a false alarm. Got everything back together. Just have to sync the carbs tomorrow. If that all goes well I will throw the car on the trailer and head over. If I do make it I will be late.
Who else is going?

Me too I just need to clean out the Ghia to reduce weight and gas it up ......... I am thinking High Octane Fuel 91 or 94 if I can find it. vroom
This will be a good testing bed for my different single port carburetor set ups that I have been collecting. First up I need to get somewhat consistent with the stock carb set-up.

Can I cruise in the PT.? What time you guys going up? AJ the Citgo station at D' Ave Exit sells race gas 110 (I think!) That way you close to top off the tank with regular and finish with 110(like a gal. or so).

Sure why not, drive the PT. If you pay the $15 you could run it down the track. Just to see what it will do.
No race gas for me in the Ghia!!! I just plan on putting about $20 or so of premium.
I was just planning on driving up there when ever I got around leaving somewhere between 5:30-600

Wouldn't dare to run it down the track, Karen would kick my fanny if she found out.

Thanks George!

I had an "OK" time at the track it was fun to hang out with Rudy Bren and Kenn. I could have tinkered with the Bus instead and had a more fun time.
The problem was that a group of professional drag racers rented one lane. I thought no big deal right this way I can't get horribly beat down the track because I am running all by myself right.
Wrong!!!!! Every time the "Pro" guys ran everything just stopped until the "Pro" guy was done. It totally would of been worth it to see the "Pro" guys make a full run. All they did was just to set stuff up to dial in their launch then coast down the track. What a waste!!!
I only made one pass down the track because I got sick of sitting in my Ghia waiting for the "Pro" guys to go. Then about 10 or so regular cars the back to the "Pro" guys again. It would of been nice if I did make more passes but waiting 30 to 45 minutes in line was not fun.
On the upside I would totally go again. This way I can better my reaction time then it would be a good test bed for changes to the car. To see if I improved or slowed down.
Quick question Rudy did the tire change help?

Hard to say about the tire change. The difference showed on the tach crossing the line and shift to 4th (which is generally right about the 1/8th mile mark) was sooner. First 2 passes with the 25.4 tall rears were a 19.53 and a 19.47. Last 3 passes with the 23.4 tall rears were 19.36 (spun tires at launch due to dirt on tires), then a 19.27 and then another 19.27. However, I have run a 19.26 with the tall rears at a previous test session. Perhaps the added witdth and soft rubber added to the rolling resistance to offset the ratio change.
Missed you Steve, but it was a good night if you had to miss one. Like AJ said, it was an unusually long wait to run

just got the email about the cruise in and silver lake. looks like the email was sent on the 19th. 3 days before the event. I don't live to far from silver lake and I would have liked to have been there. I don't check your forum very often. sure would be nice if y'all sent out the emails with a little more notice so people could make plans to go a week or more before hand. were not all retired and cant just go someplace at the drop of the hat. if you give a little notice you might get a better turn out. thanks for listening.
