Here's another thought!! M-66 south from Battle Creek to M-60 East to US-223 through the Irish Hills area (Lenawee County) and into Toledo from there. If anyone's interested in this route, I will plan it a little more firmer. Think of it as kinda a pre-Fall cruise shakedown run.

Lived there for a short while. Would be fun to drive through.

(Pray this works) Maybe something like this: maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=49015&daddr=42.1667,-85.16783+to:42.01454,-84.68824+to:41.99825,-84.26617+to:toledo+oh&geocode=FUkOhQId8cvr-il7bKv1aO0XiDH6uN8Q4dZQ_A%3BFaxpgwIdKnHs-inPq-hemOkXiDHZy8vwRdijcw%3BFUwXgQIdkMLz-imvl5n9oG49iDETjxORKRi-FA%3BFarXgAIdRjP6-ilx9csT9h09iDGhhG8tv63_2g%3BFcK9ewIddAwF-yl5Th78LYc7iDFFwzpFn8g8fA&hl=en&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=1&sz=9&via=1,2,3&sll=41.98178,-84.383225&sspn=1.225008,2.419739&ie=UTF8&ll=41.990119,-84.385986&spn=1.224851,2.419739&z=9 If everyone's interested and agrees, I will work out the Toledo end in detail to get us to the show.

The link above apparently doesn't work - sorry. Anyway... meander through Calhoun County to M-60 to M-99(Homer) to US-12 to US-223 right into Toledo.

OK. I've contacted the folks running this event and got the exact location. It's a VW dealer on the south side.
I've also worked out a detailed route through the Irish Hills as previously discussed. It's 132 miles (Google calculates 3+ hours but I think we can do it in less).
The entire route is County, State and US highways with the exception of 12 miles on I-475 down the west side of Toledo.
I would be glad to feed everyone breakfast but on 2nd thought it might be a little cumbersome having breakfast for 10-12 people here. But I could get a couple dozen doughnuts the night before and have the coffee ready!
Then, leave my house about 6 am and stop somewhere along the way for a 'real' breakfast (after we see how good of time we're making). They'd like us to be there by 9 or so for registration.
I've also asked about e-mailing a participant list and Paypaling the registration fees ahead of time to get us through quicker - no answer back on that.
Any thoughts? If you wanna do this, PM me and I will make up a complete list. I guess Steve and AJ would be coming the furthest and would probably have to hit the road a little after 5 to be at my house by 6.
Of course, anyone who has not replied to this post yet who wants to join us is welcome. I would really like to fire up a dozen or so air-cooled engines at 6 am so that my neighbors know we're serious (there's some Harley-Davidson types around the corner - let's give 'em as good as we get!!).
Lemme know....

I would like to hear from you guys with a firm commitment of who wants to caravan to Toledo Saturday morning. I don't wanna buy 3-dozen donuts and have just 2 guys show up.
Also, what do you think of the route? The route I've planned roughly follows M-66 south to M-60, to US-223 to I-475, however I-94 to Jackson would save a lot of time, getting us there sooner and making any regular breakfast stop we might make more leisurely.
So please respond so I can get an accurate head count, and let me know your thoughts on the route you prefer.

I'm probably going, and if you go through Jackson, I can't recommend the Roxy Diner strong enough for breakfast. Not certain yet how I plan to go, but Jackson sounds good here.

This schedule would have me getting up at 3:30 am. That won't happen.
Might go later, let me know if anyone is interested in a "second wave".

Show is on Sunday the 19th isn't it?
When does the car show registration end? Maybe we can target getting there a little late instead of targeting being there right at 9. If possible I would prefer to go as all one group.

I am thinking of going but I have a Bus to tend to. The only way that I can go is if my Bus is home and my Ghia is running good.
I will keep in touch and I should know more info info later.
So far I am 50/50

I should be getting my Bus tomorrow. If everything goes according to plan I will go and drive my Ghia. I am not picky about the time we leave but a also don't want to wake up too early. I would prefer to stay off the toll road but I am flexible
