So, I got the rear drums off the bug. Guess what I didnt see? Brake shoes, mounting hardware. The other side was nearly as bad. The shoe material came off with the drum. It was a Godsend that the wheel cylinder popped in the garage.

Got all the parts back in but now I am having a devil of a time getting this sucker to build pressure. So close yet so far.

there's some pretty decent posts on Samba for tricks on "bleeding your brakes".
