I (and a few others, I think) have been thinking the Battle Creek 'Cruise the Gut' was scheduled for the 14th of August.
But in today's 'Shopper', the article on page 4 says it's the 7th. The photo caption on the front page, says the 14th??
The text of the article also says the 14th.
There's no contact phone in the article but I'm assuming it IS the 14th. The article headline is the ONLY place I see mention of the 7th, so hopefully, that's just a typesetting error.
Anyone know this Ron Munster, and can you check with him?

I don't know him. I understand he is a Battle Creek police officer. Maybe call the police dept. to confirm the date?

Who is going to this? One of my favorite car activities of the summer. They shut down the downtown area to regular traffic. Only the 72 and older cars allowed on the streets. Cars park and cruise both. It is a blast to see the cars being driven instead of just parking. Don't let the '72 and older thing bother you, who besides us is going to know what year any of our cars are? They all look the same you know.

I'm planning on it Bren. See you there!
Before anyone asks, I believe the cut-off is '72 becuase, if I recall correctly, that's when they converted Michigan Avenue to a "pedestrian mall" in an effort to kill cruising. But like Bren says, we VW owners have an advantage in that most 'civilians' don't know one year from another. Just remove your 'authentic' plate and put on a '71 or '72 plate.

Drifters CC is also sponsoring a "cruise" (although I believe it's more of a "park") the night before (the 13th) along Capital SW, south of Territorial (Lakeview "business district"). They'll probably be something in the "Shopper" Thursday.

Anyone interested in caravanning down? We can meet at my house (100 N 28th) or a more convenient location if you prefer.
I have a window mount for my video camera - I plan on taping the cruise, so maybe you guys shouldn't be right in front of, or right behind me. I'm using mini-DV format.
Thoughts?
Jay, will you have friends riding in the back? Maybe one of them could take the camera long enough to tape me passing by...

Glad its to get down to a cool 90 degrees. Should be nice. Rain is to clear out in the afternoon. Is everyone parking in the same spot as last year? What time did we get there last year? That was a good spot. Just on the outskirts. I might be picking my brother up to bring him to look at the cars too. Wife is still laid up with a bum ankle so she and Emily will be staying home. We can meet ya on 28th or where ever. John W.

Well, I am still going to go at some point. Even if I go by myself. I really like watching the cars drive around town. Just hope the rain goes away.
Is anyone going?
