I got my new 1641cc engine into the thing today and started reassembling everything. here's my problem.
the fuel pump flange that came out of my 1600CC is too large to fit into the hole the in the new case. Does anyone out there have a smaller style fuel pump flange? or know what I need to get? I am trying to get it running in time for the Gilmore, and this is cutting it close.

I have a few, not sure what size compared to yours, but, I can measure. I'm not too far away, in Holland. Otherwise, Jim's Buggy Parts in Nashville could probably help you out.

thank you for the responses, I did manage to dig one up over at Bernies, so I am completely assembled. the next problem is.
No spark: at all. I do have a pertronix installed which is making things more difficult to diagnose. I do have +12v going to the coil + side, but with the pertronix hooked up, nothing. Now.. my question is. there is 3 wires coming from the body. +12v to coil, Oil pressure sender, and a third. Does that usually go to the - side of the coil? could that be my issue? might try to borrow a distrib with points tomorrow to do more testing.

Usual wires attached to the Coil
+ Side of Coil
From Fuse Box +12 Hot usually Black wire To Reverse lights usually Black To Carburetor for choke and/or electric solenoids on carb. Red Wire on Pertronix
- Side of Coil From Points usually Green wire Tachometer uses the - side Black Wire on Pertronix
I hope this helps

easyiest way is to just take some 60 grit sand paper and just start sanding all the way around it to get it to slide in the hole

You guys are awesome, thank you!
My wiring was incorrect on the first shot, which did cook my pertronix unit. I swapped my point setup back in, wired correctly, and it fired right up.
5 minutes of carb and timing adjustment and it runs perfect. the new engine is completely smoothe, way more power then before, and doesn't sound like a popcorn machine. doing some runs in the morning, and hopefully hitting the gilmore this weekend with it!

Talk to George (George's Hot VW's) about the pertronix. He has seen some bad ones lately and talked to Pertronix about it. He might have some ideas for you.
