Well, I did it! I bought another Ghia. '71 coupe. It was on ebay and in Grand Ledge. Will probably go up tmw or Monday (Memorial Day) and tow it home. Tuesday, I am having a new driveway put in so I need to find somewhere to put it (as well as my '74) for a week while the new concrete cures. The car has new chromies and tires and so I figure I can't go wrong for only $1-Grand! Intend to do a body off resto with new pan halves, etc., and repaint Bermuda Blue (like my old '66) or Adria Blue (a little darker, but correct for '71). NEW Chromies and Tires that still have the stickers on! I think NEW stainless Steel bumpers might eventually be in order! NOTICE the PO has already removed those ugly reflectors and filled in the mounting holes!! Will have a spare tow bar for sale and perhaps some wheels/tires if anyone is interested. $25 isn't too much, is it?

I was going to stash the yellow 74 at my dad's house while the new driveway cured, but that was before this one came along. Thanx to neighbor George (George's HOT VWs - don't you all wish you lived as close to George as I do?) I can park the yellow one at his place for the week and take the new red one over to dad's. Dad has garage space and this one doesn't have the qtr windows reinstalled yet. So George will get the 74 with a cover. Thank you my friend!
The lady across the street will let me park my truck in her driveway overnight for the next week, so I'm good. I'm widening the drive to 17' so I'll have room to park 2 Ghias side-by-side up by the house. New drive will then taper down to about 11' at the curb.
When I get the 71 done, I will probably sell the 74 and start looking for a 'vert again seriously.
Kenn's taking the towbar. Thanx Kenn!

I'm widening the drive to 17' so I'll have room to park 2 Ghias side-by-side up by the house. AJ and Steve came over late last week. One of them pointed out that with 17' of width, and a little care, I COULD park THREE Ghias side-by-side. Hmmmmm... Certainly something to consider...

I dunno kiddies: This might be more than I thought at first.... The passenger seat isn't right: At first I thought I had non-Ghia seats but as you can see, the driver's side is fine: Now I suspect that the passenger seat isn't sitting level because the pans were poorly patched with bondo and sheet metal instead of commercially available replacement pans. But what's really scary is the fact that the body and pan have been bondoed together along the front edge: Also note: That appears to be the fuel line running through the passenger compartment! There appears to be a LOT wrong with the tunnel as it's been opened up and patched in more than one place: Still, if I deduct the cost of the new chrome wheels and Kuhmo tires (which are going to be moved to my '74 next sunny day), and the few parts I've already sold, it's still a very good deal.

What did you end up keeping off of it? I see you said the wheels and tires. Worth the $300. Any other stuff?
