Hey everyone. I just needed somewhere to vent a little bit, so bear with me.
I was recently as close as ever to getting an 01 Jetta 1.8t 5speed, and trading the guy for my 98 Regal GS. It was sooo close, I was gonna go meet him tomorrow, we had put it off for a week, and we got to emailng. My dad owns a car dealership, so my car is under the dealership name so I can run a dealer plate.
Long story short, the guy didn't find it amusing that he would have to pay the actualy sales tax, title transfer, and plate transfer thru the dealership if we did the trade. I pretty much had my dreams crushed in 5 seconds.
I was planning on picking this car up, I was doing as much reasearch on the cars as I possibly could in the week I had and I was getting all emotionally involved in it. That probably explains my severe dissapointment, and somewhat anger.
But what can I do? repost my craigslist ads. I could ask any of you, know anyone with a nice Mk4 Jetta/Gti 1.8t five speed? Or anyone in the market for a 98 Buick Regal GS?
Thanks for reading if you made it this far. I just needed to let it out somewhere. I was really bummed about it, like bad.
but anyway, I'll try to make my saturday as productive as I can I suppose.

Or! If you really want it, split the cost with him. A VW for a Buick, I'd go half any day.

putting it in my name would be a possible option, and so would the splitting cost, I didn't think of that. That would probalby be the best, I dont' know if I could pull off the $50 thing, but it could be worth a try. I have to find out about the timing belt, because that would set me back several hundred bucks to do even myself.
I guess It's worth a try.

Agree with all of the above. I suspect the other guy feels a bit misled in this deal, so some major schmoozing may be in order.

oh trust me I'm trying I offerd him to split the tax title plate cost, and now he's a little more interested, I was supposed to still go look at it this afternoon, but he had someone else coming to see it, so I don't think that's gonna happen today anymore, unless I skip bible study tonight.... We'll see.

This deal is most likely out of the question. I don't think this guy is worth dealing with. Sale is pending on my car anyway, so I'd rather just have cash in my pocket and go out looking fro something I might like. Dustin, PM sent to you

hey guys. here's my situation. I made the random purchase of an 85 toyota celica GT from a customer who didn't want to pay to have it fixed. I currently have my car count back up to 5, which is a little bit too many for a 19 year old kid who takes up his parent's yard with cars.
I recently got an email from the GLI guy, and he said he was dropping his price to 4300 and had a couple people looking at it this week. He said he wanted it gone by thurdsay, so I said if it's not gone by thursday, let me know. So I might be able to snatch it up yet, but that means 2 of my other cars must go. Just an update.

well, the baja will not leave quite yet. I have my first car, a 92 accord, and an 88 century that will be the first to go no matter what. But I'll consider that calling dibs if you're still interested when I'm finished with it.

so.... the GLI sold the other day for 4000 bucks he said. So I'm still "on the hunt" but not as actively, as I'm at my car limit, so to speak.
