So the shop i took my heads to, too have the exaust studs removed says that they need to be tapped and coiled, which is ok i guess, but what would be a fair price to charge to have 4 studs removed and coiled? this guy is sayin 100 bucks? sounds pricey seeing that i could probably find a used set of heads for cheaper.....what do u guys think?

Sounds on the pricey side to me?! $5.00 a stud is more like it.

Never...NEVER take vw parts to a regular machine shop. They overcharge and do crappy work and EVERYTHING is cracked and unreusable. Go to greens for work. Or someone of that caliber that knows the veh and the materials. I learned this the hard way, 3 times. (Im slow to learn sometimes).

since i am now able to hold onto the 69 westy, i decided to get going on getting it on the road. my parts arrived yesterday from cip1, so i guess i will spend this rainy weekend in the garage , tearing into the brakes, and seeing what i can get done bein a single dad doesn't leave much time for my bus, so i better make the most of it
