Well over the weekend I was finally able to get the 69 home from Ohio. PO thought it was a good idea to glass the bad spots that it had(dog legs, under sliding door, bondo under windshield) and then put on a less then desirable paint job but I will save the body work for next fall. I just want to concentrate on making road worthy. So to start I need to pull the motor, and either replace or repair the fuel tank, brakes gone through, and replace the exhaust which i have already purchased. But since I have never pulled the motor from a vdub, anyone interested in giving a lesson, I'm providing the food n drinks. pics soon to follow. Thx gang!

A 1968-1971 Bus is the easiest vehicle to remove the engine from. No need to jack up the Bus.
1.) Remove the rear bumper 2.) Remove the rear apron 3.) Remove all engine electrical and all other connections (check heat exchangers) 4.) Rig up someway to support the transmission (MOST IMPORTANT) 5.) Place a rolling jack under the engine for support 6.) Remove all 4 engine to trans nuts (the upper one will be the worst) 7.) Remove the two nuts / bolts for the rear engine support 8.) Then pull out the engine sitting on the jack

Where in Ohio did you find it? It seems like we do the opposite, I drag them home from MI, you drag them home from OH

little town just outside of cincinnatti,,,im sure my spelling is off there, lol. It is what u call "far from good, and good from far" I don't know how so many people seem to come across these buses that have been stored for years, and have a solid body and just need some minor tune-ups, I'm always finding the same ol rusty in the usual place buses. But the price was right, so I went for it. So we will see what happens!
