Hi all, I reccently bought a '57 15-window bus from the guys at Kieft and Klok in Holland (photo attached). I'm looking to find some history on it if possible. I know it was registered in Michigan, and then shipped over to Holland in 2007...but that's all i know! If anyone can help at all, that would be awesome. Thanks Steve Attachments:

Hi all thanks for the replies.
I'm going to see what I can find out on VWoA, and also VW Germany for the birth certificate, will take a look into the DMV as well, but not sure what can be done from the UK?
I and the bus are in the UK. I bought the bus from the Netherlands, and shipped it home to the UK a couple of weeks ago. It has export papers from Michigan State from 2007, so trying to fill in the missing pieces.
The bus is in need of a large amount of resto, and looks as though it's been sat in a lake/pond for a few years!
Look forward to hearing from more of you in the US!
Cheers Steve

Welcome Steve! Looks like a fun project with a bit of history. Any idea where in Michigan it may have come from? We have members all around the state of Michigan, it may be easier to find history if we have an area to start looking into. Patrick in Holland (Michigan)

Hi Patrick, No unfortunately until I get the information back from VW I've not got any other info on the bus unfortunately. The guys in the Netherlands didn't know too much apart from the fact it's been sat in a lake/pond for a while! I'll let you guys know when I find anything out! Added another pic as well... Michigan has that effect on vehicles (leaving them looking like they were parked in a lake or pond filled with salt) we are used to it but hate it. I bought my little one from Georgia, then lock it away during the nasty michigan months to protect it from the metal eating termites!!

I actually like the rust look, although it's a drag when pieces fall off as a result. It will undoubtedly be wort the effort to restore. Good luck with the project, and welcome to the group.

Hi guys, that's really interesting thanks - it's amazing to find out some of the history! No it didn't come with the rear bumper unfortunately (or the speedo, clock, ashtray etc.), and it's a real shame that your friend doesn't still have it as would love to get hold of the OG one for te bus! I'm going to try and keep as much OG as possible, so it's a shame! If anyone knows anyone selling a rear press bumper let me know! It would be great to get hold of "Mike's" email address if possible, would love to know more about it! Great to speak to all you guys - and thanks for all your help!

Hey Steve ,I talked to mike this weekend about your bus. He showed me a picture of your bus while it was at his house. He is a member of this site and will try to get ahold of you. Brendon
