Hey everyone, I just stumbled across this forum while randomly surfing the samba. I thought It would be a cool thing to get to know some VW people who are closer to my neck of the woods. I'm new to the VW scene, and just purchased my first one, a '67 baja bug. I'm in the process of getting it ready to go for silver lake this may, and just pulled the motor and tranny for some repair on reverse gear. Here's a pic of the Baja:  And here's a pic of me:  I'm 18, and in my first year at GRCC for my degree in Automotive. I currently work for my dad in his full service shop doing just about any type of mechanical work you can think of. I've always been fascinated with the air cooled VWs, and I'm proud to say I'm part of the family now!  |

Just ran across the buggy builder's show, but unfortunately, I am scheduled to play guitar in church that day (Palm Sunday) The Lord has to come before VWs.

Yes, I've noticed that VW's can be good and fast for cheaper than anything else but not necessarily cheap per se... |

You have to pay to play! How fast will it go, is answered how much money ya got? Some of us have spendometers in the dash to tell us our dollars per hour as we are driving. Good luck on the reverse repairs! I'm hoping to have my rail ready to go some time this summer, maybe we'll see you up at Silver. |

yeah, I figured it was a good starting point. Relatively solid body, solid pans, rebuilt 1600dp, and the tranny was supposedly gone through before to fix a 2nd gear grinding issue, and now to be gone through again.
what I've done: Changed oil, adjusted valves, installed dual kads, adjusted front brakes, pulled motor/tranny.
To do: throttle cable, speedo cable, reverse repair, sand tires, fix tie rod, clean/adjust rear brakes, DRIVE!
Then I have to get it street legal so I can drive it and meet all you guys.
