Newly registered, just wanted to say "Hello". My name is David Decker. Looks like a great site, great group. Owned LOTS of VW's over the last 42 years, bought my first Type 2 (a '63) in 1968! Started working on VW's at the age of 11 helping my Dad with his '62. Owned a VW specialty shop in Sterling Heights MANY years ago (1976 thru 1982). From '69 till '76 I worked at / for several of the independents and at the dealer (Bob Zankl in Sterling Heights) so if there are any "older" folks here we may have met! Currently down to only six VW's, '56 and '64 Standard Beetles, '57 Sunroof Beetle, '63 Type 3 Notch, '82 Vanagon Westfalia, and an 83 rabbit Pick Up.....along with a few old Porsches........not enough time in life to finish all the projects. I live in Davisburg with my wife, 5 kids, dog, cat, parakeet, bunny, snake, lizard and fish. Maybe have a chance to meet some of you sometime! See you all later. David

I grew up in Sterling Heights, near 14 and Vand**e. Graduated high school in '82. Where was your shop? What was it called?

Thanks for the welcomes, I'll have to get some time and post some pics! Most of my stuff isn't digital so I'll have to scan them or take some more.
Bren, My shop was Precision Repair Service and was located on 16 mile between Van d**e and Mound from '76 to mid '79 (just west of the RR tracks down the street from American / Import junk yard) then moved to Utica Rd just S of 19 mile till I closed it in late '82.
