Hi everyone,
Just wanted to introduce ourselves to the forum. We have a 76 STD Beelte, and are from Holly, MI. Its my first Beetle! I have spent the summer getting it back in shape. I hope to meet some of you on the your future runs. We are a little far for some of the GTG's, but would like to make some when I am a little more confident in the cars reliability.
Thanks for having a place for Michigan VW fans! I will try to post some pictures soon.

Thanks for the responses guys. I just did a mapquest to the Martin Bug Run and its 150 miles . At least I have a couple of weeks to make sure everything is good with the car. I am going to make an attempt to get out there. Maybe if there are some other eastsiders driving out we could cruise out there toghether? Dave

Welcome! We all know about the long drives. We have gone to many events on the east side of the state. Hopefully you can find someone to drive out with.

Welcome! I'm new on this board too, and Bren and Dustin have already helped me a lot.

Dave:
Maybe we can represent the "east siders" on this forum?

Bill,
I will be using the 3 day holiday weekend to hopefully give my car some extra road tests. I am trying to build up to the 300 mile round trip. I haven't had the best luck with the car so far, but last weekend's trip to Bakers went great!
Thanks for all the "Welcomes" everyone.

Dave:
There is a nice little show every Monday night in downtown Farmington (on Grand River Rd, just east of Farmington Rd). I just got my car on the road today (I had some issues last weekend that are now fixed). Within 2 miles of my home, I hit a possum (big sucker) as he darted across the road. My first road kill ever. LOL
Anyway, I'll be at this Monday night cruise, if you are inclined to flex your VW muscles.

How did your car preform on the road tests? Road testing is a good idea ask Ruffus and John what happened when I took my Ghia out for its first voyage to Grand Rapids for the MetroCruise. Are you still planning to attend the BugRun with the VW?

Right now it is not looking good for me on making it to the bug run. It is looking like my free time for Sunday is getting scarce. (a 2 1/2 and a 3 month old will do that). I also still have two small car issues. First I still need to come up with a usable spare tire. The second is a hot start problem that has recently been occuring. (Crank, no start) Bill my appologies if your planning on making the trip. It would have been fun to ride out with another Bug. Not sure how long that downtown Farmington show on Monday's goes on, but I work in Farmington Hills, I could drive my car to work and meet you there sometime. Dave

Dave: That show is always a good one. It runs until about 8:30, or until it is almost dark. There was a very nice standard there. He kind of winced when I drove by in my "modified." If it is not raining tomorrow, I will likely be there again. Here is a map to the parking lot (Bellacino's) where the show is held: maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=32720 Grand River Ave, Farmington, Michigan 48336 Bill
