I was talking to a bug owner last night who was selling a 73 super. He was replacing the triangle window because someone had attempted to break in by pushing it open to break the latch. Thats a pretty easy way known by most thieves.
I've experience 2 break-ins one via that window and one via a metal blade inserted down the window slot to pop the door lock latch. In each case they got my radio.
One was in a busy mall parking lot.
These cars are remarkably easy to bust into. What if anything have you done to make it more difficult?

What I have is an alarm system with power locks, ignition kill, and vibration sensor. I have never thought of sliding a metal piece to lift the door lock. What I will do now is just purchase the door locks with no head thanks.
I was broken into with my GTI I had my whole stereo system ripped off. After this I realized that the crook just needed a phillips screw driver and a set of side cutters to remove my system.
So when I did my ghia I made a lockable cabinet for my Amps. I Bolted my Head Unit with a custom tray to my dash board. For added security I only used special tamper resistant hardware.

I just installed a new inner door latch and saw how simple it would be to pop the lock with a thin blade of metal inserted down the window slot. Its a simple mechanical latch that is easy to grab with a notched blade and pop the lock.
You could pop the lock easily by also slide the blade long the push rod from the door release lever to the door latch. This is of course if you use the standard latch. No idea if power locks just automate the simple mechanical latch or are something else altogether.
You could weld something over the latch and push rod to prevent access to them I supposed. But that would be not be very elegant.

What do you think about "the club" that mounts to the steering wheel? Does it work or is it a waste of time and money? I can get one for under $20 right now, new.

The good thing about the club is that it is a visual statement yes people my not drive away with your car but you can still get broken in to. My favorite measure against car jacking is pull the coil wire and for newer cars pull the fuel pump fuse. How many crooks carry a coil wire around for a 67 Beetle or a 15 amp fuse. Once again you can still get broken into. All that you are trying to do is to keep the honest people honest.
Just for info I saw a guy destroy the club with his fists. Yes he also destroyed the steering wheel but he could still drive the car away.

Sounds like it is money I can keep in my pocket then. Would rather not have to mess with it anyways.
