Hello all
Today I wanted to drive the Ghia even though it not finished yet. So I checked everything over lights, signals, alignment and seat belts. Called my insurance company Progressive to insure the Ghia. I wanted to add my car to my existing policy with full coverage. I asked about classic car coverage and my car meets the criteria. I was asked the approx. value of the car I guessed $10,000.
The major problem is the price for a 6 month plan it was going to add $800 to my existing plan. Not cool, so I got basic coverage at $35 dollars extra a month.
The Progressive Person suggested Hagerty Collector Car Insurance. Does anyone have this or how is your Volkswagen Insured?
I did drive the Ghia today down 9th street for a bit I have found a lot of bugs in the car but thats the fun right.

I have PLPD, I am not old enough for Hagerty. The problem with some companies is they want it to fully restored, or they want it PLPD. I do know that State Farm has a pleasure use vehicle policy and for mine it was like $42 a month full coverage at $7500. I would goto State Farm.

I have Hagerty on my beige car; guess that shows my age! I used my regular insurance for my blue one, or I will when it is done. Price was reasonable. I am insured through Frankenmuth, my agent is Hub international. Maybe the best bet is to call an agent that works with multiple insurers. State Farm is not trough these type agents so you would need to call them seperately. Sounds like they might have a good deal too.

I have Hagerty here also, I just called them up and then sent them an email with a photo and told them how much I thought the car was worth.

AJ, I have JC Taylor on Ruffuss with a coverage of $10,000 no deduteable and the yearly rate is $210.00 it would go down to $86.oo a year if and when I give up the speciality plate and have him registried as a classic. I have fleet insurance on the barn also through JC Taylor which runs$ 340.00 a year for up to 20 vehicles( of which I have 8 right now) If one these are roadable a rider must be added. They are covered for fire, theif and comp no collision. They are good people to work with and are very helpful, Although I also am older than the nuts that turned to dirt(according to my son) Later Kenn

I use www.foremost.com/ for my pop-up camper. Very reasonable rates. Very good protection for my camper awning that has been destroyed twice by weather. Maybe they will cover Westys? (is it westly or westy?) -Bren

J C Taylor does NOT do Campers (76 Westley) nor does Hagerty . Now what ? I called my insurance lady and she set my westy up as an RV,I'm pretty sure I pay less than $200 a year for full coverage on it( might have something to do with having 8 vehicle's insured with them).
