The car is stuttering when you let the clutch out in first and reverse. So I replaced the pressure plate and the disk, it still does it but not as bad, sometimes not at all. The input shaft on the trans moves about 3/16 of an inch. The fly wheel looks alright. The gland nut seems (?) to be ok.
I don't have trans mounts on back by the engine. The guy I got the car from put a different "cross member" in it. Trans bolts to it. I picked up mounts but I thought that they would change the angle of the shift rod. also trans pops out of 2nd and reverse, but has always done it. Trans is making noise, starting to sound like a quick change rear end and is getting louder.

The nose cone is the front end of the transmission. It should have a mount in the front as well. If that is all wore out it could cause the whole engine and transmission to wobble and move around. edit: Oh yeah, and Welcome to the Goodvolks!

nose cone looks ok .front mount ok. moves with prybar very little. less than 1/8 inch. rear is bolted to cross member.no mounts .with motor out you can wiggle the input shaft about 3/16 inch up and down.also pops out of 2nd and rev. looking to replace trans, can you recommend anyone? needs a freeway flyer.

if you go with big tires in the rear, you might not want a freeway flyer transmission because it will undergear the tires, and be a dog at accelerating. I have like a 4.85 ring and pinion and in 4th gear with my big rear tires its pretty much at the floor on the highway at 65mph.. with approx 3500rpm... Im glad I dont have the taller 3rd and 4th gears or I would go nowhere in 4th.. just my 2c
