AJ here
Ever hear the saying I don't do windows. Now I finally understand.
Friday night I thought that it would be cool to show up at the Formula K GTG on August 23 and unveil my 1969 Karmann Ghia. Unfortunately I have a very long list of stuff to do. The good thing is that I have got permission from my wife to stay out in the garage as long as I needed. So today being Saturday lets have fun.
Not!!!!
I spent all day installing new rubber around the driver side quarter window on my KG and for some weird reason the window will not fit. I guess I need to do some research. Sorry just some venting.
What my real question is.... Is their any one in or near the Kzoo area that would like to help me install my windshield and rear window on my Karmann Ghia.
Come on it will be fun. How about this I will take you out for lunch and or supper depending on time of day and how long it takes.
Well tomorrow I think I will tackle some of my other stuff on my list. I my still show up at Formula K just without side windows.
Hope its sunny!!!

No I did not get any windows in after Saturday failed attempt I worked on other parts of the car. I was able to clean the garage and install somemore body rubber. Plus I even drove it to the gas station with out any windows. To all you bug guys the Ghia windshield is a bit trickier than a beetle windshield. southpaw understands it does take 2 people and my wife does not like to get her hands dirty. I still need someone to give me a hand to install the windshield and rear window. I have no problem with helping you with your volkswagen. My expertise is engine work and electrical. So Chris how is your motor installation going I have build many VW engines if you help me I can help you.

I am located on the North West corner of 9th Street and Stadium at Mill Creek Apartments. I am usually free in the evening on weekdays and all day on the weekends. This week is a little messed up but right now nothing is locked down so I am still flexible just let me know.

I have had some experience with a super windshield if that helps at all. I will have to let you know if I am available friday or not. I am on the east side of kalamazoo, but I can possibly be there to help. I installed all of the windows in mine, and I have done a super windshield using wire rather then rope. I have done it without lube at all, so that tells me that we could probly get it done with some sort of lube. As far as my motor, I am putting in a couple of case savers, and from there it should be done. Hopefully today or tommorow. I will keep you guys updated if I can make it out.

Friday works for me. Everyones help is most appreciated and I will return the favor. I will be out in the Garage after work around 4:30 - 5:00 ish. Just look for the open garage with the bright yellow Karmann Ghia in it at Mill Creek Apartments. If any one needs directions let me know.
Is there any refreshments anyone would like?

OK , I like it when a plan comes together, as far as refreshments ice cold water, Im not one for drinking n driving anything harder than that . Supplies needed - lube - waterless hand soap non-pumas type , cord (Mid America shows a 9 meter long for windshields ) nylon - I think a hardware store would have something that would work , Windex window cleaner or something to that affect to complete the job , And maybe 1-1/2 hours for both shields , N that B that done . C-YA Friday . Glen
