Any one have any hints/tips for fixing a broken front trans mount stud in the frame? I have one that is broken.
1. Is the big end of the stud just threaded up into the frame? Looks to be about 12mm on the small end and much larger where in goes up into the frame? Once I get the mount completely out of the way i figured I would try a stud remover before drilling.
2. Anyone have any ideas where I can get these? I have looked at alot of the online sources and have found nothing.
Thanks in advance guys.

Guess I should have specified that the car is a 76 Type 1. Talking about the mount that has the two studs that come straight down from the frame.

That is the mount I have, but the studs I am looking form are the ones that would come from the frame, down through the two slotted portions of the mount. I would post a picture but I am having some problems downloading pics to my computer from the camera.
Thanks

I've been wondering the same thing. We have the same problem with a car that we're putting back together. The stud is broke off a the frame. Is it threaded in, or can you just drill it out and re-weld a new stud on?

I believe they are welded. I have never replaced one, but did change my car to the older style mount. I had to cut the studs off, I could not pund them out (or into the tunnel, technically).

A nose cone is an easy fix, but...I've never tried it in the car. I would guess you would have to at least un-bolt the trans and move it back far enough to get the front of the nose cone out of the back of the tunnel.

Guys!! your' making this difficult ,All the front mount does it HOLD the trans from moving ;D I've seen Drag Bugs without a Front Mounts!!! there are a cpl. different types a Mid-mount that bolts to the housing just behind the the nose, and a rubber mounted strap that goes over the trans and bolts underneath NON requier welding 8-)30 min. job tops,Madmike

Sorry guys, somehow I missed the additional replys to this thread. I got sidetracked on another project in the garage.
I looked into the mid-mount mentioned by Madmike, looks like a pretty decent option being as I do have one stud left on the front mount, I am gonna get one ordered up, and I will let you know how it works out.
Thanks
