For those of you who prefer to build rather than buy, here is my design to make your own spindle gussets. Easy to make out scrap 1/4in bar stock. May require a little light grinding as spindle carriers are roughly forged parts and no two are exactly the same. Enjoy

No chamfering of the major radii? A few minutes on the Computer controlled and it could be cut and lightend. I can imagine more of an I-beam creation.

I'm having an awful hard time imagining what your I-beam idea would look like. Where on here would you be placing the chamfers?

The I-beam might be to tough small scale. but, a little beveling for the welds for the weld and rounding the outer edge.

Buzzing over the inside edges with an angle grinder would help for welding penetration. Anything beyond lightly chamfering the surfaces to be welded would be purely cosmetic. If you like pretty rounded over edges, go for it.
