What auto parts store sells Varga wheel cylinders?
So far I have found that Car Quest sells raybestos, Autozone sells Dorman, and Napa sells Napa Brakes, CiFam (italian), and ATE(expensive). I have not found any Varga Cylinders, so I would be interested to know where you got them.

Oh, and for the record, I have tried the Raybestos and Dorman wheel cylinders...Both of them have MAJOR quality control issues. The problem I ran into with both of them was that the mounting boss that fits into the backing plates were not correct. I pulled the old stock VW cylinders out because they were rusted on the inside bore. The mounting hole in the backing plate is 28mm. I measured the mounting boss on the stock cylinders and it was only a few 100th's of a mm under 28. The Raybestos mounting bosses were 2mm too small!! Thats a boss 26mm in diameter! My problem with the Dorman cylinders was how inconsistent they are. I ordered several and measured them for fun, but ended returning all 7 of them. Measurements varied randomly anywhere from 26.35-27.86mm. No good. All the cylinders I got fit really sloppy in the hole. I was worried that a sloppy fit would work the bolt loose (despite the lock washer) over enough cycles of stopping in forward and reverse. There is no way that 8mm bolt can stop the wheel cylinder from wiggling back and forth when stopping in reverse and then forwards...etc. Although small, those little movements over time seem like they could loosen up the bolt...wheel cylinders with loose bolts is bad news bears.
I have not tired the Napa Brakes, ATE, or the Italian CiFam cylinders.

Yeah, everything drums has been a breeze for me so far...accept for the crazy wheel cylinders! Good grief, I wonder why there were so many constancy issues with just the wheel cylinders? Seams crazy to me. I hope other people buying those parts are observant enough to realize that they do not fit properly before they start driving with them.

One more rotten apple to add to the list in case anyone else is trying to buy front wheel cylinders... Wagner Brake Parts. Not a good fit, but better than some of the others I am almost ready to bite the big one and go with the ATE wheel cylinders. Apparently a proper wheel cylinder can not be had for less than 35 bucks.

I took a look at the other wheel cylinders that I pulled out that have VW cast into them, and the rubber end seals on them say ATE. Was ATE original VW factory stuff?

I got one more make of wheel cylinders, CiFam, that I am going to try just for fun before I bite the big one and go ATE. I'll let you know how it turns out. CiFam is supposed to be higher quality Italian stuff, but we will see how it turns out. I'll post up what I find out in a couple days or so.
