I didn't see a lot of people wanting to get their valves adjusted....which is good since they can't be adjusted while the engine is hot. I assume everyone will be dring their VWs there! Funny, our Spring Tune-Up is the same day over at Harsh Winters! Sounds like you guys really know what you want to get done, that's good!
Hey Dan, That gear Lube you got, is it blue in color by some chance? If so I wouldn't recommend using it. Although it help to slide the gears in easier, that stuff actually allows faster wear on the gears as it is designed for folks who rebuild their trannys every season!

Al: Yes, George typically will allow items to be returned if they end up not needed. I have helped John work on brakes on a few car lately. One car lost fluid over the winter. Turned out the hose from the resevour (sp?) to the master cylinder was bad. Now that you have fluid in it how does the pedal feel? If you push it does it stay firm at some point? Could be they just need to be adjusted. If your hoses at the wheels are old it is a good idea to replace them. They can become restricted.

Thanks for the ideas, guys. Bren, I will be calling george in the a.m. and try to decide what I may need vs what he has and then I'll let you know if I need anything picked up. Thanks again...

The bg product is just a heavy duty synthetic 80/90 lube. I got two qts from work for free. It is not blue in color it is designed to be used as a diff fluid. I may need to snag one more qt. I was Also thinking on trying royal purple gear lube as I've had very good luck with the stuff in my other cars.

I'll come. I need the timing adjusted ( haven't invested in a timing light yet) and my oil changed though oil change I can do anytime.
I would also like some advise on my clutch adjustment, I 'm getting a shudder on takeoff and can't figure out why. I have a new clutch plate/pad so that shouldn't be my issue.

I have a new clutch plate/pad so that shouldn't be my issue. 70 Ghia check your bowden tube, the tube that the clutch cable runs through, attached to the side of the trans. Also, did you change the t/o bearing, if so, with the correct one, sleave or no sleave. Could also be a trans mount, allowing things to move a little more than they should.

Hey all! CAN'T wait til Saturday--looks like the weather is going to be FAB! I spoke to George of George's Hot VWs in K-zoo and he is really nice and with it! Two thumbs up! He advised me just to have all the guys here on Sat inspect the system thoroughly and then buy parts as needed. Evidently some of the rest of you are experiencing the same problem. Can't wait to meet him next Sat at the car show in Holland. I'm really impressed, nice phone conversation. One request, I have the ability to haul off a couple of oil changes in my sealed canister for recycling but if we have many more than that will someone please bring another device to hold used oil? I appreciate it.

Al, Sorry I'm not going to be able to attend, first outdoor soccer game for Grandkids. Try to hook with everyone next time. Remember blood is thicker then oil, at least in my book. Later Kenn

I need to check with my wife, but I would love to make to it to this GTG. I am sure my bus is ready for an oil change, valve adjustments and maybe plugs. Is it to late to join in? I have to see if I can round up all the parts by sat. What time does this start?
thanks,
Benj

It is still at Alan's place. Talk about George was in relation to getting parts from George for Saturday. If anyone needs parts I can still get them from George to bring up Saturday.
I am going to drive up the blue car. Still having a generator problem. If there is time I would like help looking into this. Possibly swaping out the generator if that proves to be the problem. Thanks, Bren

It's definitely still at my house in Allendale. VWfanatic, hope you can make it, we're talking noonish but a little earlier won't hurt my feelings--I'll be around all morning. The more the merrier, as I said before. If we can we may have to cruise up M45 or something, Grand valley State is on the other side of town and M45 leads right into GR. If not, no problem. Ruffuss, sorry to hear you can't be here, maybe I'll get to see your Thing at the show in Holland the next weekend. (I just thought someone not well-versed on VWs may find the prior sentence a little disconcerting! lol) Now they're forecasting 70s and sunshine til later in the evening!

We will not be able to make it tomorrow to the April meeting. I have to go over to Battle Creek on Sat. I really wanted to drive the bug but I have major brake issues. Last week I filled the brake fluid up and its been parked all this time and I got in it to pull it out of the garage today to clean and theres no brakes. I checked the fluid and its almost empty. It has been leaking ever since we got it but not this bad. I think the leak is in the tunnel somewhere which would be hard to fix and a lot of time Have a good time Sat. and hopefully I can get them fixed by next weeks show. John in Plainwell
