I bought 3 quarts of Valvoline 80W-90 as it was highly recommended on thesamba. What about the switch(es) for the brake lights, the ones that are down by the master cylinder? Easy to get locally or should I order them? Do you guys want to post this on thesamba to get some GR or others to show up or just keep it the club people? I have no problem either way, the more the merrier as long as I have space. The weather so far shows low 50s with partial clouds and 10% chance of rain--keep your fingers crossed...

You can get the brake light switch at Auto Value but its about twice as much as ordering from CIP1 or you can get it from Wolfsburg West for twice as much as Auto Value. Auto Value may have it in stock so you can get it now and CIP1 would probably be just as much after shipping but may be a better quality not to offend anyone who works at Auto Value CIP tends to carry alot of German and OE Volkswagen parts. Also I don't look that far ahead in the forecast because it never stays that way. And posting this on The Samba is fine the more the merrier and we are by no means an exclusive club so any new members we can gain the better.

A regular Beetle transmission holds about 2.6 Quarts What do you recommend they buy? Brand? Weight? VW recommended 90W Hypoid Gear Oil but it my be hard to find so 80W-90 Gear Oil is fine. I am not touching the rest......... but stay away from cheep.

I got some fancy schmancy BG gear lube product Im going to try out. Supposed to be the Bomb. + it was free from my bg dude Free is good. I am pretty sure I still have my 28.00 hex socket I bought for the last time I did this on the buggy. Probably will suck more this time being there is an inconvienient body over the trans and all. Re: my brakes. The brake fluid reservoir was empty after the winter, no readily apparent leak. I am going to try to nurse it home Fri night from GR as my hand brake works excellent. What could this be? Should I order some parts from George's VWs? Does he have a master cylinder if its worse case? And, if its not that, can I return it? I'm thinking about ordering the brake light switches, anything else? Hoses? etc? Any thoughts or ideas appreciated. Brakes scare the CrA& out of me.
